This year, Saints Squash had their best finish in program history. After ending the regular season with a respectable 6-2 record, the St. Christopher’s Squash Team headed up to Philadelphia to compete in Division III of the U.S. Squash High School Squash Championships. The event featured over one hundred boys squash teams from across the country. After two decisive victories, the team made it to the semi-finals, the furthest they have ever gone. They played three matches at the Penn Squash Center, then had the opportunity to play their last at the Arlen Specter Center. However, after a heartbreaking loss to the eventual winners, University School, the team finished Nationals in 4th place (their best finish in program history).
As a whole, the team was very impressive this year. Led by senior captains Patteson Branch ’25 and Charles Herlihy ’25, the team only suffered a single loss in their division, the Mid-Atlan-tic Squash Organization. With a rare combination of youth and established veterans, the team went 55-17 in regular season individual matches. With only two seniors and an 8th grader as the number one on the ladder, it seems likely the depth of this squash team will continue to shine for many years to come.
