For the 23rd straight year, the Varsity Wrestling team has continued to solidify itself as a powerhouse, claiming yet another league and state title. With 12 Prep League Individual Champions, the squad show-cased depth and talent across all weight classes. This year also marks the team’s fourth consecutive state championship, which is the 18th in school history.
The wrestlers delivered an electrifying performance at the VISAA State Championships, producing six individual state champions and eight finalists. Among these was Tyler Hood ’25, who achieved his fourth career state championship this year. While the team fell one point short of breaking the VISAA state record, this near record-breaking performance is a testament to their grit and determination over the course of the season. In addition, Coach Ian Squires was named the VISAA Assistant Coach of the Year for his leadership and mentorship. Drew Roggie ’26 and Walker Turley ’26 shone on the mat, earning prestigious titles of Lightweight and Middleweight Outstanding Wrestlers, respectively. Their skill, strategy and dominance further cemented their status as elite athletes in their divisions.
With a season for the history books, the STC wrestling team continues to add to a legacy of excellence, proving year after year why they remain a force to be reckoned with in the sport. Fans and competitors alike eagerly await what next year will bring with the return of many talented underclassmen.
